The Washington Sportsmen Association consists of over 350 members plus their families and friends from Washington County and surrounding areas. We have been active members of the community for more than 89 years and will be celebrating our 90th anniversary in 2027.
Our community involvement has included:
Past participation in target shooting and safety programs for Chartiers - Houston Field and Stream Club bi-annual field trips. These field trips had been held for over 19 years (freshman through seniors).
Boy Scouts have had use the facility and are welcome to visit us again to complete merit badge requirements.
4H Organization and National Shooting Sports Foundation Scholastic Clay Target Program was hosted monthly outings for clay target shooting.
Members of the Military have also received pistol training prior to qualifying & before deployment. W.S.A. also serves several local police departments by providing the club facility for training and qualification without cost. We also have members from other law enforcement agencies including the Pennsylvania State police and FBI. The Constables train and qualify as well.
In addition, the club facilities were used annually for a National 24-hour emergency broadcast test by the Ham Radio Operators. This was when our Club was King of the Hill of the area.
While no longer a NRA Club, we maintain a message board (by the bathrooms) that have instructors cards that may be contacted if you are interesting in learning gun safety, self-defense or pistol qualifying. We do not support private lessons or reserve the ranges for them.
We have a dedicated ladies only league that meets Mondays 12pm - 2pm that is hosted by Diane Farnella and Sonia Blaha.
Wednesday evenings 6pm - 9pm we have a year round MPRL league hosted by Douglas Goodwin.
Currently we host the Hocking Hills Hawkeyes, a trap and skeet league, for practices for their tournaments. Jason Diamond is their contact. They are exceptional in their talents and manners. They will welcome anyone to shoot along side them, fair warning though... they are really GOOD!
We are pleased to offer online payment for dues via Square.
A monthly e-newsletter is compiled by Kathy Weightman with many updates about club activities, meetings, articles written by various members and gun-related State Bills.
Cold beverages available for purchase in the clubhouse for 75 cents at the pop machine or for $1 (honor system) in the fridge.
Tokens are also available for purchase 5/$20.
The club is located above the Washington County Fairgrounds.
